The production process

Learn the entire process of how we build each engagement ring.

Phase 1. 3D Wax Print & Cast

Starting from a digital design file, the ring is brought to life through high-precision 3D printing, producing a wax model that serves as a mold for casting the ring to it's final metal structure.

Every ring begins with a detailed 3D design, which is prepared and sent to the ProJet MJP 2500W Plus wax printer. This high-resolution printer builds the ring layer by layer in a wax-like material, capturing intricate design details. Once printed, the wax model is cleaned by removing its support structures using an ultrasonic cleaner with an alcohol bath, leaving a precise and smooth model ready for casting.

The cleaned wax model is attached to a casting tree and encased in a heat-resistant investment material. It’s then placed in a kiln where the wax melts away, creating a cavity in the shape of the ring. Molten metal is poured into this mold to form a solid ring. After cooling, the ring is removed, cleaned, and carefully prepared for the sanding and pre-polishing stage of craftsmanship.

Phase 2. Sanding & Prepolishing

Once cast, the ring is carefully sanded to remove rough edges, then pre-polished to give it a smooth, clean finish—ready for gemstone setting.

Once cast, the ring undergoes a thorough finishing process to refine its form and surface. Sanding begins with the use of a Foredom® Flex Shaft rotary handpiece, equipped with a variety of sanding attachments—including silicone wheels, emery-embedded rubber tips, and sandpaper discs—to gently remove casting skin, sprue marks, and any rough edges. For tighter areas and finer detailing, our jewelers use hand tools like precision files to shape and smooth hard-to-reach surfaces.

After sanding, the ring moves into pre-polishing, a vital step that gives the metal its first soft shine and prepares it for stone setting. Using cotton mops attached to the rotary tool, the ring is polished with grey star, tripoli & red rouge compounds, which help smooth micro-scratches and bring out a cleaner, more refined surface. This stage ensures the ring is both structurally clean and visually flawless, setting the foundation for the final polish and gemstone setting.

Phase 3. Stone Setting

During this stage, the gemstone is precisely positioned and securely set under a 45x Leica microscope to ensure lasting stability while enhancing its beauty and the ring’s overall design.

During this stage, the selected gemstone is carefully and securely set into the ring under a Leica stereo microscope, offering up to 45x zoom for maximum precision. Our setter uses a full suite of advanced tools to ensure accuracy and durability, including the Jura micromotor system for delicate rotary control and the GRS air-powered engraving system for secure tightening and fine adjustments. Supporting tools such as drill bits, ball burs, hart burs, cylinder burs, and gravers(45°, 60°, 90° & 120° angles) are used to carve, shape, and prepare the setting. Additional hand tools—pliers, cutters, and files—assist in adjusting claws, refining prongs, and perfecting fine details around each gemstone.

For the center stone, claw settings are customized to suit the design—ranging from classic round claws, to sharp and modern tiger claws, to sleek and bold tab claws. Side stones are set using refined techniques like micro-pavé for continuous sparkle, castle settings for a detailed and ornate appearance, and shared prongs for a minimal, elegant finish. Each setting is carefully chosen and executed to enhance both the security of the gemstones and the overall beauty of the ring.

Phase 4. Final Polishing & Inspection

In the final phase, the ring is polished to a brilliant shine and carefully inspected three times to ensure every detail meets our quality standards before it's ready for shipping.

In the final phase, the ring is carefully polished to bring out its full brilliance and shine. Using soft cotton buffs and a series of refining compounds such as Rouge, our jewelers work carefully across every surface to achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like finish. Special attention is given to areas around the gemstone settings and under galleries to ensure a flawless presentation from every angle.

After polishing, the ring is subjected to a 3x quality inspection to ensure it meets our quality standards. Each inspection is done under a jeweller’s loupe to examine the finer details—such as setting security, polish quality, and any micro-scratches—while wearing lint-free gloves to keep the piece clean. Finally, the ring is documented with high-resolution photos and videos for internal quality control records, capturing the craftsmanship and condition of the piece before it is carefully packaged for shipping.
